The Rooted Difference

Adopting a holistic approach is addressing a system in its entirety rather than focusing solely on its individual components. In education, this means considering all aspects of a child's development: their learning to be, learning to do, and learning to know. At Rooted, we emphasize this three dimensional perspective, integrating nature in all of our practices. We begin this process through the lens of faith, love, and community and are guided by these principles. Community is cultivating a compassionate family culture. This fosters a safe and loving environment and supports the brain's requirement for interdependence.

Instead of viewing students' deficits, we focus on a growth mindset that recognizes and builds upon their strengths. We believe each person has been given a gift that can impact their surrounding community and world greatly. Through evaluation, observation and conversational engagement, we can understand each child's unique developmental progress and gifts. This insight gives us the opportunity to come alongside students and families in designing an intentional personalized journey.

Our approach extends beyond traditional education, encompassing strategies to optimize brain function and physical well-being. This includes fostering interceptive or bodily awareness thru movement, proprioceptive play, and therapeutic techniques. Other ways we support holistic health is by combatting our society's nature deficit and implementing measures to reduce stress, screen time and toxic exposure. Multidimensional, interdisciplinary methodologies underpin our academic curriculum: practical, physical and emotional life skills, experiential self-led learning, and a diverse list of pedagogical approaches.

Rooted seeks to foster the growth and resilience of students' minds, bodies, and souls, nurturing their overall well-being and development. This will produce children who are happy, calm, and independent, with restored joy as lifelong learners of our world!
